The Challenge
Basildon Council sought to modernise its meeting and webcasting infrastructure, moving away from a complex, supplier-dependent system toward a simplified, self-managed solution.
The existing setup was difficult to operate, requiring additional laptops, manual cable changes and ongoing adjustments to audio and video settings. This created inefficiencies in daily meetings and introduced unnecessary reliance on external support, along with recurring hiring costs.
The Council needed a system that would simplify hybrid meetings, streamline streaming and recording, and return full control to internal teams.
Our Solution
Nuway delivered a fully integrated hybrid meeting and webcasting solution designed around simplicity and reliability.
A Crestron Microsoft Teams Room system was introduced, enabling one-touch meeting join functionality and eliminating the need for additional devices or complex setup. This was complemented by a custom camera tracking and overlay solution, providing intelligent shot positioning and on-screen name displays to enhance clarity for remote participants.
To support recording and live streaming, an Extron streaming encoder was deployed, enabling meetings to be broadcast directly to the Council’s YouTube channel with a single touch. A redesigned Crestron touchscreen interface brings all core functions — including meeting control, streaming and recording — into a single, intuitive user experience.
Despite a tight five-day deadline ahead of a scheduled council meeting, the system was successfully installed and transitioned with no disruption to operations.

Basildon Council now benefits from a streamlined, self-managed meeting environment that removes complexity and improves day-to-day efficiency. Hybrid meetings can be launched instantly, while recording and live streaming are fully integrated into a single, easy-to-use interface.
