Project Overview
Client: East Riding Council
Location: Hornsea, UK
Sector: Leisure
Scope: Site-wide AV, multi-zone audio, PAVA system, fitness studio AV, digital signage
Project Value: £9.9 million (overall development)

The Challenge
As part of a major redevelopment, Hornsea Hub was designed to transform the town’s leisure offering — combining a refurbished leisure centre with new community facilities including a library and children’s centre.
The eThe upgraded space required a modern, site-wide AV solution that could:
-
• Deliver clear, reliable audio across multiple zones
-
• Support fitness classes and immersive training environments
-
• Provide effective public address and emergency communication
-
• Enhance user engagement through digital content
-
• Remain simple to operate for staff with varying technical abilities
The system needed to balance performance, flexibility and ease of use across a diverse, high-traffic leisure environment.
Our Solution
Nuway delivered a fully integrated AV system designed to support both day-to-day operations and enhanced user experiences across the facility.
At the core of the installation is a multi-zone digital audio platform that enables flexible routing of music, microphone inputs, and announcements throughout the building. This system also functions as a Public Address and Voice Alarm (PAVA) solution, ensuring clear communication and improved safety across all areas.
In the pool hall, a dedicated multi-zone audio system was installed to provide consistent, high-quality sound coverage, creating an engaging atmosphere while maintaining clarity for announcements.
Fitness and exercise spaces were equipped with projection and audio systems to support group training and instructor-led sessions, including integration with Les Mills programmes. A MyRide virtual coaching system was introduced within the spin studio, enhancing the indoor cycling experience through immersive, guided workouts.
Wireless microphone systems were provided for instructors, ensuring reliable voice reinforcement during classes.
Across communal areas, a digital signage platform was deployed to deliver dynamic content, including schedules, announcements and promotional messaging. This creates a consistent and engaging communication strategy throughout the facility.
The Result
Hornsea Hub now benefits from a cohesive, easy-to-use AV ecosystem that enhances both operational efficiency and visitor experience. From clear, site-wide communication and improved safety through PAVA integration to immersive fitness environments and engaging digital signage, the system supports the full range of leisure activities within the space.
The result is a modern, connected facility that reflects the wider redevelopment — delivering improved communication, increased engagement and a future-ready platform for the local community.
