The Challenge
Nuway Audio Visual was appointed to modernise Manchester City Council’s historic chamber, having originally delivered its AV system in 2015.
The objective was to upgrade conferencing, presentation and streaming technology while carefully preserving the architectural integrity of this Grade II*-listed civic environment.

Advanced Conference & Voting System
At the heart of the upgrade is a comprehensive conference system comprising:

• 158 custom, flush-mounted delegate positions

• RFID access control for authorised use

• High-quality integrated microphones
Leadership positions were equipped with touchscreen control interfaces, supported by dedicated system management PCs with remote support capability — ensuring reliability, oversight and ease of operation.
High-Performance Visual Presentation
Visual delivery was enhanced by installing dual 4K 10,000-lumen laser projectors. These were discreetly mounted to operate within the constraints of the chamber’s ornate ceiling and listed architecture.
The result is bright, high-resolution content presentation that integrates seamlessly into the space — delivering modern clarity without visual intrusion.
Enhanced Transparency & Broadcast Capability
To support improved public engagement and accessibility, a new broadcast suite was introduced alongside five 4K PTZ cameras.
This enables professional-grade live streaming and recording of council sessions while maintaining a discreet presence within the chamber. The system provides reliable coverage, flexible camera positioning and high-quality video output suitable for public broadcast.
