Next-Generation Assistive Listening Technology

25 June 2026

Assistive listening is evolving, with systems such as Auri™ offering a modern alternative to traditional induction loop technology. Built on Auracast™ Bluetooth broadcast audio, Auri allows venues to broadcast clear, low-latency audio directly to compatible hearing aids, earbuds, headphones, smartphones or dedicated receivers.

Unlike traditional Bluetooth, users do not need to pair their device to the system. Instead, the experience works more like joining a Wi-Fi network, allowing users to select the relevant audio channel discreetly and independently. This is particularly valuable in public environments, where visible assistive listening equipment can sometimes discourage use.

The technology is well-suited to council chambers, lecture theatres, conference spaces, places of worship, performance venues and public buildings. With low-profile transmitters, portable receivers, docking stations and central management software, it can scale from a single-room installation to a wider building or estate.

Nuway has recently incorporated this technology into our new Bristol City Council Chamber installation, supporting the wider goal of improving accessibility, hybrid participation and public engagement within a historic civic environment.

Nuway can support the design, installation and integration of assistive listening systems like Auri, helping venues improve accessibility while keeping the technology simple to manage, discreet for users and ready for future hearing aid compatibility.
